BPATs and Customer Service Inspections
The Morgan Mill Water Supply is required to have BPATs and Customer Service Inspections performed anytime a possible cross connection or backflow could occur. Examples: 1) If you have a private well and have it hooked up to a house or barn that is also on the Morgan Mill Water Supply, 2) New built homes, or remodeled homes where the plumbing has been updated or changed out, 3) Sprinkler system or swimming pool of any size that is hooked up to the public water system, 4) Fountain drink machines (even water) without a backflow preventor, wash basins in beauty shop, garages or stores, and 5) Hoses that are connected to a faucet without a hose bib attached. There are many other examples and additional rules pertaining to RVs and mobile homes. BPATs are required yearly on landscape irrigation systems, drink fountains, etc.
Please don't be upset if MMWSC asked you to perform either a BPAT or CSI inspection. It is the rules of TCEQ. If you have one of these possible connections or others that could cause a health hazard, please contact the water office. What you fail to do could affect the health of someone on the public water system, that is a child (your school), a immune compromised individual, or other adult. Remember is doesn't just affect you.
We are asking everyone to check around their property and make sure you are in compliance. MMWSC is here to help. A link to TCEQ's information on BPAT and CSI inspection is posted on this website and can be accessed at http://www.tceq.texas.gov. Search for Customer service inspections or Backflow Inspections.
MMWSC has a CSI inspector and BPAT inspector who can perform these inspections. Any new builds (rather house, barn or building) will be required to have the inspection. Any other customer MMWSC feels is not in compliance will also be required to have an inspection. TCEQ allows any public utility to immediately shut off water to any potential threat. This notice is listed on the Member Service Agreement you signed and also listed in the MMWSC Tariff located on the website and filed with the PUC.
Thank you for your support and cooperation in this matter.
Your health and that of others depends on it.
